KADLAGAN SAH PAŊANU•RON

During those days when I was still doing mountain climbing, my initial reaction upon setting foot in a cloud forest has been that of complete awe. I thought the place was enchanted, primeval and spooky, especially since the night before, we camped out near a ravine where someone is rumored to have jumped off. That morning, the place was foggy and misty and the forest floor was soggy. We drank clear water from a stream that snakes out of mossy rocks and tree trunks, fed by the heavy rain that previous night. We were lost for a while as we seek out the trail in that forest that a few souls has ever intruded. I have composed a poem below to recapture that moment of awe, plus the following images to help you visualize the scene.
